Ex-NHLer Hinote joins Blue Jackets staff

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -Former NHL veteran Dan Hinote (HIGH'-note) has been hired as an assistant coach by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The club announced the hiring on Thursday. Hinote helped the Colorado Avalanche win the 2001 Stanley Cup.

Hinote will be the second member of new coach Scott Arniel's coaching staff, joining Brad Berry. The 33-year-old Hinote wrapped up his career last season with Modo in the Swedish Elite League. Also, he could have some added motivation to put up big numbers this season with the Eagles using their first pick in the draft on McNabb’s future successor Kevin Kolb.

Pittsburgh earned their passage to the big game by beating their division rival, the Baltimore Ravens, 23-14 in yesterday's AFC Championship Game. Warner hit running back Tim Hightower on a short screen for the go-ahead, game clinching score that will forever live in Cardinal infamy.
